A new set of tires is two purchases: the rubber, and the labour that gets it onto your wheels and spinning true. For Lansdowne drivers, the second half is the job at Philadelphia Tire Shop, 2.0 miles from here at 6821 Woodland Ave.
The shop runs Mon–Sun 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Phone before you set out so the size you need can be checked rather than assumed.
What should a tire installation quote actually include?
Two quotes for the same tire can differ by tens of dollars purely because of what is left out. Ask each shop to name the line items, not just the total.
- Mounting each tire on its wheel
- Balancing, which is what stops a vibration at highway speed
- New valve stems, or a clear no
- Service for the tire pressure sensors, if your car has them
- Disposal of the old tires
Is it fine to replace just one or two tires?
Sometimes. If the other tires are nearly new, one replacement is reasonable. If they are well worn, a single new tire has noticeably deeper tread than its neighbours.
On an all-wheel-drive car that mismatch can matter, so check your owner's manual or ask when you call before buying one.
